Arc of the Sky Wand (Demo) Revision 1
EDIT: Hack has been tested using Ares, Project 64 v1.6, Retroarch (PL), etc. It appears some emulators do not support my asm hack to change music on instant warp.
AUTHOR NOTES (edited): Unfinished hack that somewhat exaggerates vanilla SM64 gameplay. Demo is here for playtesting purposes and feedback. Currently only one hub and three full levels (B1 added late). All cap switches are available, but any other courses outside the scope are unfinished. Also, for your information, the Tommy and DS Dorrie models are rips, NOT my work. Includes textures ripped from Bomberman 64: TSA.
Bowser has snuck away from the Mushroom Kingdom after his latest defeat. Instead of another kidnapping, Bowser turned to the unnamed kingdom he dubbed, Skywhere, a place he now rules over. Guess who brought all his baddies with him and, by using the power of the Sky Wand, repurposed many into decoys? Skywhere is Bowser's new playground as he produces his sky-dropping ideas into new traps for the fellows down below. Can Mario put an end to his new threat?
(March 1, 2026) DEMO UPDATE 1: Added the first Bowser course and battle. Hopefully by next update I'll have World 4 finished, but for now you can have another side course.
Tweaked the camera to allow centering to Mario's position (functionality during other camera types is limited rn). Lakitu camera allows more angle control.
Replaced the global 100-coin missions with side quests, which may or may not include occasional 100-coin missions...
Sandy Falls and Glacier Peaks now got a custom music theme (cave area music is unchanged for now). Red Coin Challenge theme is replaced with DDD alt instrument set, for now, which HOPEFULLY does not crash for anyone (fingers crossed, I didn't have any issues on my end).
Texture improvements and fixed a few issues, including Klepto getting stuck against the mounds.
The Key Door will take you to the ending cake screen for now until I design the second hub.
Also, modified cutscene for new file intro.
Changed the void color on the title screen.
VC course uses free roam camera now, and changed the music theme.
Misc. changes to level layout, some more shade smooth (not done with shade smoothing, however, particularly in Sandy Falls), etc.
As far as console compatibility, there is a rare issue where collision gets wonky on boot, but reloading the problem level will fix it.
KNOWN ISSUES: >Collision bug as mentioned above.
>Camera gets stuck in flying mode if entering a warp hole without landing.
>Wrong camera type after death warp from Bowser fight.
>Glacier Peaks theme has the sleigh bells using the wrong key, this will be fixed in the next update.
>Wrong UV mapping of a texture on one of the walls in the hub area.
>Unlikely to happen, but there is an oversight in UPDATE 1 that may render Mario's cap impossible to recover if you drop it oob in B1.
>See top EDIT.
