Mario Teaches Patience
A game that punishes you for trying to go fast. But who says you can't?
Made in HackerSM64, created for SMW Trolls "Make us Laugh Troll Contest".
This hack is meant to be accessible, but its humor is mostly targeted towards people in the SM64 community.
V1.0.2 recommended! It has some very small but very necessary QoL improvements.
Edit: Don't use the first "Play Now" button; use the version-specific buttons instead. By default, "Play Now" is supposed to give the first version listed, but DGR (one of the competition's judges) got V0.9 instead.
For streaming, keep the top left corner empty if you can. Unless you hate reading, which is understandable. Also, ping me on Discord like a million times, 'cause I want to get people's reactions SO bad.
(@supersoupgalaxy. I'm also in the Any Game Troll Contest discord.)
Inputs Needed:
Every N64 controller input, including L-button and D-pad controls,
which aren't normally used.
L is the reset button.
The d-pad buttons are used to make micro-adjustments to the camera.
A/B/Z are all used for swimming.
Target: Parallel Launcher. Please use this to play the hack.
Most of the following settings should be automated:
Graphics Plugin: GLideN64 (This will *probably* work fine.
But if not, feel free to try the other plugins.)
Overclock CPU: ON
Overclock VI: OFF
Emulate Framebuffer: ON
Emulate N64 Depth Compare: ON
Widescreen (Viewport Hack): OFF
Alternatively, if you use ParaLLel as the graphics plugin:
Remove Black Borders: ON
Input Mode: Normal
Widescreen (Stretched): OFF
Use Interpreter Core: OFF
16kb EEPROM: OFF
LLE RSP: OFF
V0.9 was submitted a day before the deadline, and is the playtest version. A lot of things were changed between this and V1.0.
V1.0 was submitted 4 hours before, and is the version submitted at the time of the deadline.
V1.0.1 was submitted 3 days later. It adds QoL that I considered to be necessary.
V1.0.2 was submitted 24 days later. It fixes a bug in V1.0.1 where a certain spike wouldn't load properly.
(I wasn't able to fix it sooner because my main PC was MIA.)
